UNIT 36/37
My initial intentions throughout this project were to create a logo, poster and a range of merchandise. My designs were inspired by many typographers including Oscar Wilson, Herb Lubalin and Joseph Vass. other designs were inspired by the German Bauhaus Movement, Russian Constructivism Movement and Swiss graphic design. Using geometric shapes and angles to compose a range of designs relating to my brand.
I feel that my strongest areas were the Movement designs as using photoshop and angles to create a digital design has allowed me learn new skills and has had an effective outcome whereas I feel that my weakest area was the written typography as keeping my words straight was hard for me to do.
My strongest experiments were my German Bauhaus Designs and were used in my final product design. They were used as they looked most effective and stood out the most. My logo and The Bauhaus designs worked well together and my logo didn’t get lost in the pattern and there were also a lot of white space which made the pattern and logo stand out more.
I aimed to express the milkshake brand and my mascot (cow) in my final merchandise, this linked to my theme of Fruit drinks as I used Bauhaus for the use of colour which is related to colours of fruit and i also used my mascot (cow) to relate to milk used in milkshakes.
I connected with my target audience with my merchandise designs as I have based my audience on young adults and teenagers as the colours are bold, bright and fun which will stand out to most audiences.
I am very pleased with my final designs as I tried a range of processes before coming up with these designs and it just worked. The colours were right and stood out, my logo didnt get lost within the pattern. the pattern and design worked well together with the typography. If i had to change anything I would have made the green background lighter.
